Hi everyone from sections 1&2,

This is Nancy Schroeder, from section two. I just wanted to let everyone know that I volunteered to take on the task of compiling the Powerpoint slides for our presentation on Friday, March 16.
Please email me at njschroe@ncsu.edu your summaries/findings for each group by no later than Tuesday, March 13 so that everyone who will be presenting will be able to do a practice run before the actual presentation.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation!

Hello everyone from sections one and two!

This is Paula Kroustalis, Director of Research, from section two. I wanted to briefly go over what the research groups are going to start doing next week and to see if anyone had any ideas about some things.

First, we'll be starting our usability testing soon, what is that? If you don't already know we'll be having participants (like faculty, undergrads, grads, and prospective students) coming in to test in the computer lab's usability testing area. We'll have the participant, the facilitator (who will be giving the tasks), and the observers. Not only we will be observing the participants but we'll also be recording one from each group! This will allow us to put clips, etc. together to help prove and summarize our findings.

Following the usability testing we will start conducting focus groups. Section one had a great idea to involve everyone from all groups to help come up with ideas we talk about in the actual focus groups. For example if the events group from either section think certain questions should be discussed in order to help their part of this project then they should bring it up! As should internal communications.

Do either groups have ideas of what should be asked? Let's start posting ideas, etc. Not just about this in particular, but about anything/everything.

The Research team needs to start working on the script for the usability testing. This will probably require you to spend some time on the COM website yourself in order to come up with tasks to give to the usability participants. Keep trying to get in touch with people to do the usability testing. Remember, for both classes we need 25 people total, and we need undergrads, grads, faculty, and prospective students. Someone should try to get in touch with the teachers of BUS 100 and 200 to get these students to do the testing. And don't forget that the prospective students who are following around the COM Ambassadors are good candidates for the prospective students we need! (They will be shadowing the Ambassadors on Feb. 2 and Feb. 12.)

Also, the research team needs to start getting in touch with people to do the focus groups. This needs to be done ASAP so that we can get enough participants to get good results. And remember, a focus group is a group of people that have similar qualities, so we will have several different focus groups, one for undergrads, one for prospective students, and so on. Internal Communications people can also help with getting in touch with these people as the research team is very busy at the start of this project.

Events people: We have a few ideas for the T-shirts, and I am going to try to get in touch with someone from the School of Design this week to talk about pricing for printing the T-shirts. I'll try to do this by Friday so we can go over it in class.

Everyone: We will also need to come up with questions to talk about for the focus groups, so guys start posting!!
